Dr. Mousumi Mukherjee is Associate Professor & Deputy Director of the International Institute for Higher Education Research and Capacity Building (IIHEd). She is Member Secretary of JGU Research Ethics and Review Board and founding Executive Director of JGU Centre for Comparative and Global Education. Dr. Mukherjee has been a recipient of the prestigious Fullbright fellowship in the United States in 2005. She is Fellow and Country Director (India) of the Society for Transnational Academic Researchers (STAR) scholars network. She is Research Standing Committee Member of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES) in February 2020. Recently, she has been also selected to join the Association of Commonwealth University’s (ACU) Supporting Research Community Steering Committee.
In 2007, she was awarded the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society Medallion in the US for her contribution in International Education. She has also worked for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship programme at Institute of International Education (IIE) in Washington DC and also awarded the Washington Centre Civic Engagement award in 2007. She has been a recipient of Graduate Women Victoria International Doctoral Fellowship. Her doctoral thesis was also selected as a runner-up to the Gail P. Kelley award for outstanding doctoral dissertation by the Comparative and International Society in the US. She also received an Emerging Scholar Fellowship by the Oceania Comparative and International Education Society in 2016.
She has published many research articles in internationally peer-reviewed journals and edited books published by reputed academic publishers. She has also worked as an expert consultant with international organizations, such as UNESCO-IIEP, Toronto-based Higher Education Strategy Associates and Australia-India Institute.
She has been engaged in teaching, research and scholarly engagement globally for the past 20 years in India, United States and Australia. She has also taught as a visiting professor at a Women’s University campus in Saudi Arabia for a semester. She has served for over 4 years as Associate Editor of Scopus-indexed Routledge journal -Diaspora, Indigenous and Minority Education. She also serves as peer-reviewer for a number of internationally peer-reviewed academic journals. She has published over 20 internationally peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters by reputed publishers, such as Routledge, Springer, Sage, Sense Publishers and Oxford University Press. She has also published articles in newsletters, magazines and blogs of professional societies for public knowledge dissemination. Currently, she is also working on two book projects. One of them is a co-edited book on higher education, including 25 authors around the world.
